Types of certificates

On request from drivers, we issue four different types of certificates related to a driver’s driving history, the clean accident and offense record, driving record, points accumulated and driver’s license history.

Clean Accident and Offense Record Certificate

Clean Accident and Offense Record Certificate

This certifies that a driver has no record of accidents or traffic violations over a specified period. This certificate is used to encourage safe driving, praise good drivers, etc.

Driving Record Certificate

Driving Record Certificate

This certifies records of traffic violations, accidents and license endorsements in the past one to five year period. It is used to encourage safe driving, praise good drivers, etc., and is required when applying for or renewing a private taxi license.

Certification of Points Accumulated

This certifies the current points accumulated for traffic violations and accidents.

Certification of Driver’s License History

This certifies past lapsed or revoked licenses, the type of license currently held, the date it was obtained, etc.

Types of certificates

Applications may be made via transfer from any branch of the Japan Postal Bank, after filling in an application form with the necessary details. Forms may be obtained at JSDC offices, police stations and police boxes. Also, you can apply directly to your nearest JSDC office.
Companies and other organizations may apply on behalf of individuals by proxy.
The fee is 670 yen per certificate.

a. Significance and types
SD Cards are presented to anyone applying for a Clean Accident and Offense Record Certificate or Driving Record Certificate who has no record of accidents or traffic violations, for more than one year.
The SD Card is a respected documentation of safe driving, and possessing one should therefore enhance the holder’s pride and self-awareness as a safe driver.

Five types of SD Cards, depending on the length of no accident/incident period.

b. Special privileges for SD Card holders
SD Card holders can enjoy discounts on gasoline, meals, accommodation and other purchases, as well as preferential interest rates for car purchase loans. The number of businesses offering these privileges is increasing year by year.
