License suspensions and other penalties are implemented by the Prefectural Public Safety Commission (police) based on the point system. Drivers are given points for each traffic violation, and when the accumulated points reach six points, the license will be suspended or the driver will have to attend offender training.
　We therefore notify drivers in writing when their accumulated points have reached four or five points. By doing so, we encourage them to be particularly attentive to traffic violations and accidents, and to take care to drive more safely.
