History

1975 Sept. 1 Implementation of the Japan Safe Driving Center Act (Act No. 57 of July 10th, 1975).
1975 Oct. 16 National Public Safety Commission gives permission for incorporation (Articles of Association, Business Plan).
1975 Nov. 1 Head Office established at Kojimachi 4-2, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; business starts.
1976 Jan. 1 Prefectural Offices established in 51 locations; business starts.
1977 Apr. 1 SD Card system launched.
1981 Feb. 4 Head Office relocated to Toranomon 1-21-17, Minato-ku, Tokyo.
1991 Apr. 1 Central Training School for Safe Driving established.
1991 June 20 Traffic Park opened at the Central Training School for Safe Driving.
2003 June 1 Head Office relocated to 3-Banchi, Nibancho, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo.
2003 Oct. 1 Privatized.
2004 Mar. 30 No. 2 Accommodation Building completed at the Central Training School for Safe Driving.
2008 Mar. 12 “SD Wanda-kun” debuted as the offical mascot.
2009 Apr. 1 Change to design of SD Cards. SD Super Gold Card added.
